Vision Exams

The Downtown Clinic’s vision exam program assists with funding for eye exams and simple glasses (no special coatings or thin lenses). Vision exams are part of one’s overall health and are especially important for people with diabetes as the small blood vessels in the back of the eye have the potential to be damaged by elevated blood sugar levels. Vision exams are arranged by the DTC’s Client Care Coordinator (CCC) who generally meets with clients on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Based upon this appointment, the CCC will refer you to one of our collaborating vision clinics in their Laramie office. Treatment will be determined based upon the vision care plan formulated by the vision clinic.

Emergency Dental

The Downtown Clinic’s dental program is for emergency dental cases only (i.e. pain, infection). We believe that dental health is a part of one’s overall health and want to treat your whole self, not just your teeth. Dental attention is arranged by the DTC’s Dental Care Coordinator (DCC) who generally meets with dental clients on Tuesdays from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Based upon this appointment, the DCC will refer you to one of our collaborating dentists in their Laramie office. Treatment will be determined based upon the dental care plan the dentist forms.

Qualification

With both vision exams and emergency dental, we ask that you first establish care with a primary care provider (PCP) at the clinic. Individuals must go through the client process (see Client Eligibility and Process under Client Care tab) to receive any health care through the Downtown Clinic. Once qualified and your consult with a PCP is complete, appointments for vision and/or dental care can be made by calling the DTC at 307-745-8445. You are not expected to pay for your vision or dental referral, but please know the DTC has pre-arranged budgets for both vision and dental care that we must operate within. We will try our best to meet your current and urgent vision and/or dental need within our abilities!
